Asha Bhosle Appreciates Women Speaking Against Sexual Harassment, Says They Are Being Exploited For Decades
Asha said it is high time women put a stop to being exploited at home or at work.
Veteran singer Asha Bhosle has hailed women who come out and speak against the injustice they face in society. Asha said that women should express their issues and fight for justice otherwise they will be exploited, and people who exploit them will be encouraged to continue doing so. The legendary singer said it is good that women are speaking out and it is a very positive step that they have taken.
Asha was interacting with media at the launch of new iPhone XS and iPhone XS max along with Madhuri Dixit Nene on Friday in Mumbai when she was asked about her take on the current scenario where women are standing up against injustice towards them in the society.
“It’s a positive step and women should express their issues and should fight for their justice otherwise people who are exploiting women will get an encouragement so it’s really good that women are coming out in the open to talk about issues,” IANS quoted her as saying.
The singer went on to say that women have been exploited for many decades, and that they should come out of it, citing herself as an example of a woman who can take care of both her career and her family at the same time.
“Women are being exploited from many decades. Earlier, people used to have a perception that they should spend their entire life in kitchen and take care of their family and children. I think women should come out of that, the way I came out of it. I took care of my house, family and children but at the same time, I pursued my singing career,” the veteran singer added.
Asha’s statement comes at an appropriate time, especially with the recent revelation of Tanushree Dutta about having been a victim of harassment at the hands of veteran actor Nana Patekar. Many Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akthar, Swara Bhasker, Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna and Priyanka Chopra came out in support of Tanushree after she spoke out against sexual harassment at the workplace.
