The untimely demise of music doyen and veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar sent shockwaves throughout the country. The entire nation mourned the loss of the ‘Nightingale of India’ and several musicians paid heartfelt tributes to the late singer. Mangeshkar’s music transcended boundaries and perhaps that is why, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, known for songs like Pehli Nazar Mei and Tere Sang Yaara, paid a musical tribute to the singing legend at his show in Dubai. In the video, Aslam can be seen singing Mangeshkar’s iconic love ballad Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai as her image appears in the backdrop. The video went viral on social media and received love from both Indian and Pakistani fans. ‘Just got goosebumps…’ wrote a fan. ‘Music has no boundaries,’ commented another.

For the unversed, there is a ban which prohibits Pakistani artists and singers from working in the Hindi film industry. Several fans have asked for the ban on Pakistani artists to be lifted.
Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on 8 February. She was diagnosed with Covid-19 and pneumonia. Mangeshkar passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and her last rites were attended by the who’s who of Bollywood.
