Ayushmann Khurrana has regaled us with his boy-next-door avatars in slice of life films like Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He has been the poster boy of content driven feel good films in Bollywood so far. But in a casual chat with India.com after Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the actor had promised to amaze us with his next film. He assured us that we will see a whole new side to him in Sriram Raghavan’s untitled next. The film is a thriller and so we were waiting to know more about this. Now, we have got some details that are making us eager to watch Ayushmann in this film. We know that he plays a blind piano player in the film. What is more interesting is, that he will indulge in some realistic action in the film. “Ayushmann will be seen doing gritty, realistic action in this film. He plays a blind piano player who gets caught in the middle of crisis and he would need to fend for himself and escape the situation. Since he is a blind man, he cannot do illogical action that we see in our movies. It will be extremely real, gritty and believable,” reveals a source. In fact, there is a scene in film that required him to jump off from the first floor of a building and onto the floor. Ayushmann did this without harness or protection on the ground. “There is a technique to pull this off without getting hurt and he practiced it and perfected the shot to a T. There are several chase sequences that Ayushmann will pull off, a couple of very realistic hand-to-hand action sequences. Sriram is clear that it has to be convincing to audiences that a person with disability can pull off these sequences and not come across as macho, stereotyped Bollywood action sequences that are mostly unbelievable,” informs the source. Ayushmann was certainly exhilarated while shooting for the film. He’s got a taste of action now and he is waiting for audiences’ reaction. “This is the first film in which I’m doing some very realistic action and it has been a great experience for me. I’m loving the rush of doing these sequences. They are extremely real. The highlight has to be me jumping off from the first floor of the building without harness or any protection on the ground. I did the shot in just one take and thankfully I didn’t get hurt! I’m looking forward to pulling off the other action sequences in the film. It’s going to be a good high.”

It can be recalled that earlier this year, Hrithik Roshan played a similar character in Kaabil. He plays a blind man, who sets out to avenge the rape of his dead wife (Yami Gautam). The actor had moved away from his macho, action avatar for the film since it required for him to look more convincing while playing someone who is disabled and still doing action. Looks like, Ayushmann is all set to pull off a similar feat.
