After giving strong performances in films like Badhaai Ho, Article 15 and more recently in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, actor Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to add another socially-relevant film to his resume. As per a report by an entertainment portal, the actor has greenlighted a film with Junglee Pictures in which he plays the role of a gynaecologist. Ayushmann is joined by Alaya F who recently made her debut in Jawaani Deewani with Saif Ali Khan and Tabu. This new social comedy has been titled as Stree Rog Vibhag and is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap who has assisted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on films like Dev D and Gangs Of Wasseypur. In a report published by Peepingmoon, it is mentioned that the film is the story of how one decision changes the protagonist’s life. Reportedly, Ayushmann’s character gives shelter to a girl on a run (Alaya) and that turns his life upside down. More about the story and the film is yet to be revealed. The story is likely to be set in a small Indian city, like most of Ayushmann’s films. Meanwhile, the actor is basking in the success of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which is a gay love story and challenges the taboos set around same-sex relationships in the society. Jeetendra Sharma plays Ayushmann’s love interest in the film while Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo play other important roles. The film has collected Rs 42. 22 crore within six days at the Box Office. In his latest interaction with Mid-Day, Ayushmann commented on the response his film has received. “We have impacted the mindset of people. We have brought this important conversation out, and encouraged families to discuss it. With this, we have put an Indian film on same-sex relationships, on the global map,” he said while acknowledging all the love coming his way for being a part of a film about gender inclusivity.
