Director Tony D’Souza’s Azhar starring Emraan Hashmi, Nargis Fakhri and Prachi Desai in the lead role revolves around the controversial life of the former Indian Cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin. The film has made tremendous buzz with its subject matter and the audiences are waiting to see if this movie will open a can of worm as it promises to showcase some scandalous affairs including match fixing and Azhar’s extra marital affair. As far as music is concerned, Pritam had been roped in but he apparently had to leave midway. Amaal Mallik was called to finish the job. Here’s our take on the album. Bol Do Na Zara: This melody is beautiful with its essence. Sung by Armaan Malik and composed by Amaal Mallik this number has the lyrics of Rashmi Virag. Rashmi Virag’s lyrics deserve a special mention here for they flow beautifully with this rendition. Malik’s voice add the much needed ethos to the song the flavour of which linger on your hearing palate long after you have given this one a listen! Itni Si Baat Hain: Arijit Singh gives his Midas touch once again to the composition coupled with Antara Mitr and is originally created by Pritam. Manoj Yaadv brings in a lot of thehraav with his lyrics. Nobody tries hard here to get a gem of a song the result is a rather melodious number. Antrara’s voice in the beginning sets the mood and sets the tone for the melody. Itni si baat flows freely and the visuals match to the tune in the best possible way. Oye Oye- The popular song from the movie Tridev has been revived for this album for Sangeeta Bijlani’s character is very instrumental in this one! Originally created by Kalyanji Anadji is recreated by DJ chetas under the masterful hands of the original duo. Manoj Yadav keeps his lyrics simple yet effective with the much needed Tadka of the original number! Tu Hi Na Jaane – Kumar pens a sad number and Amaal gives a fine tune to it. Add to it the magical touch of Sonu Nigam’s voice coupled with Prakriti Sarkar who has done a fine job too, makes this number a must listen. High on emotions and the proverbial lyrical depth this one prove’s Kumar’s efficiency as a writer and Sonu’s unquestionable versatility as a singer!
Our verdict: Azhar has more romance to it than sports, we must say!
