Tiger ShroffDisha Patani starrer, Baaghi 2 released today. Helmed by choreographer-turned-director, Ahmed Khan, the film has Tiger playing a ruthless patriotic, who is known for tackling terrorists with absolute ease. Disha, on the other hand, plays the role of his college sweetheart, who due to some reason, ends up marrying someone else, and approaches him years later to rescue her daughter, who seems to have been kidnapped. The film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda and Prateik Babbar in pivotal roles. Bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film with a first glance at its trailer, seemed to be yet another Tiger Shroff starrer actioned packed film, and while fans were waiting for its release with bated breath, let’s find out what the critics had to say. BollywoodLife : Some whistle-worthy dialogues that will remind you of Sunny Deol and some well-choreographed action scenes, make Baaghi 2 a decent watch. However, if you don’t get high on seeing an unbelievably ripped Tiger Shroff take on an entire army of baddies, you can give this one a miss. Firstpost : Ultimately, Baaghi 2 surprises you. It’s not a well-structured film, and the story has many loopholes; the performances are over-the-top and the plot points convenient. Also, how Baaghi 2 uses its sole woman — yes that’s right, there is only one woman in the film (Patani) — says much about what it wants to be. However, some credit must be given to Baaghi 2 for staying true to its genre. If you’re a fan of high-action dramas, you may just (gasp!) enjoy this film. It’s a pity the film didn’t use Manoj Bajpayee and Randeep Hooda’s expertise more; they are mere pawns in Tiger Shroff’s journey. Now that’s the real pity. NDTV : Tiger tries hard to suck in his cheek, square his jaw and Jackie it up, but this mediocrity is too much for him to handle. Half the film involves him overwhelmed, while the other half has him beating up people and then using a Batman voice to growl “I’m looking for a little girl.” Okay then. Patani, playing a high-strung role, is particularly insipid. It is a long, painful film capable of giving audiences post-traumatic stress disorder. Right when I thought Baaghi 2 couldn’t possibly get worse, an electrocuted Jacqueline Fernandez showed up with a sickening take on Ek Do Teen. We’re down for the count.

Deccan Chronicle : Perhaps, it’s is the best work of choreographer turned director Ahmed Khan so far. His earlier directorial ventures Lakeer: Forbidden Lines (2004) and Fool and Final (2007) sank without a trace but Baaghi 2 is a decent effort from him. But leaving that aside, with the most obvious heroic act of the protagonist backed up with the cliche melodramatic love story, Baaghi 2 is pretentious and staged. Baaghi 2 is one of those masala entertainers that can be watched once over popcorn. A perfect massy flick away from the quality cinema.
