Indians have long been fascinated by the work of Pakistani actors in their television dramas. Through YouTube, viewers have developed a close connection with Pakistani culture and artists like Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Sajal Aly, and Ali Zafar. However, things have changed since the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The Instagram accounts of several Pakistani artists are no longer accessible in India. When users try to search for these profiles, a message appears: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
Earlier this week, India announced a ban on 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for spreading provocative and communally sensitive content and misinformation against India, its Army and security agencies in the backdrop of the tragic Pahalgam terror atttack, which took place on April 22, 2025. The tragic incident shook the nation. Terrorists targeted 26 visitors from different states of India who had come to visit Pahalgam, known as a picturesque town, ‘Mini Switzerland of India’.
The terror attack was one of the deadliest in recent years in Kashmir, and it has shattered the lives of many.
