Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the 1xBet betting case. Sources confirmed that the actress has been asked to appear at the ED headquarters in Delhi on 16 September. The probe is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged links between the betting platform and several public figures.
The development comes just a day after former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty was summoned by the agency. She has been asked to appear before the ED on 15 September. Both have been named in connection with promotional activities linked to the betting app.
An ED source stated, “Both have been asked to appear at the ED office in the 1xBet app case.”
This is not the first time the probe has drawn prominent names into the spotlight. The ED has previously questioned several well-known individuals, including former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan. Reports suggest that these celebrities were linked to promotional campaigns or endorsements tied to the betting platform.
The case revolves around 1xBet, an international online betting company that has been under the scanner for allegedly operating illegally in India. The ED is probing possible violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Over the past few months, the agency has intensified its investigation, questioning multiple celebrities and public figures associated with the platform.
With both Urvashi Rautela and Mimi Chakraborty summoned this week, the probe appears to be moving into a more aggressive phase. The ED is likely to question them on their association with 1xBet, whether it was through advertisements, brand endorsements, or event appearances.
The questioning of high-profile celebrities highlights how deep the betting case has spread into both the entertainment and sports industries. The next steps of the probe could reveal whether there were financial irregularities beyond promotional deals.
