Delhi: It seems like the Eid magic finally worked wonders for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan at the Box Office. The Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer was headed for dull opening-day numbers after showing unimpressive business in advance sales. However, the spot bookings on Thursday, the Eid holiday, took the film to cross the double-digit benchmark, leading to a decent total on day one.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan faced a clash at the Box Office with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan‘. The latter even received highly positive reviews and terrific word-of-mouth from the audience on social media – two factors which threatened BMCM’s potential opening day business. However, the action-comedy beat everything around to register a good opening of Rs 15-16 crore. The spot bookings increased towards the evening, especially in the northern markets, making the film beat Maidaan’s opening by folds.
However, with the mixed reviews around the film, it still needs a bigger push over the long weekend to show some growth at the Box Office. The film is likely to continue to mint more than Maidaan but it will be interesting to see how it manages to gain more than its opening-day numbers. The Ajay Devgn starrer, on the other hand, is expected to see a growing curve with positive word-of-mouth. Both films will be fighting their best during the opening weekend considering this is the only time for them to gain the maximum business. Come Monday and the window of opportunity will be lost for both the films.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also features Alaya F, Manushi Chhillar, Sonakshi Sinha and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the role of the masked villain. The scale of the film is grand with Jackky Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment leaving no stone unturned in establishing a grand appeal. The film has been shot internationally as well as in India and is full of mass action scenes. The audience may flock to the theatres to experience the grandeur of action sequences in the film. But, that’s just an assumption. Watch this space for all the latest Box Office updates on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan!
