Gaurang says, “Badrinath Ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt is second in India’s first rom-com franchise (the makers say so). The first one being Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The film starts of well with establishing Badrinath’s (Varun) character, a quirky, mad, crazy guy, who works as a recovery agent for his father and brother. His life changes when he comes face to face with Vaidehi (Alia) at a wedding. He instantly falls in love with her and sends out a proposal to her house against her wish. Vaidehi, a well educated girl from a middle class household has other plans in life, but due to her father’s ill health, she succumbs to her father’s wishes and agrees to marry Badrinath. The first half passes off like a breeze of fresh air. It is Varun Dhawan’s innocence laced with zaniness that holds the film together. There is something about his personality that makes him instantly like-able and easy on eyes. Alia on the other hand is playing a sensitive girl burdened by her father’s helplessness.
The film very smartly showcases the plight of most of the middle class Indian parents in a society like ours where dowry is pretty common. Even though a girl child is more educated and well brought up she still is considered lesser than a guy, well because he is a guy. While most of the first half has a funny, crazy undertone it is the interval point that makes the film intriguing and I can’t wait to watch the second half. Going solely by the first half, the movie is recommended. I hope the second half doesn’t disappoint. So far so good…” Also Read - Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kiara Advani, Nora Fatehi And More Set The Stage On Fire At a Delhi Wedding | Watch
