Mumbai, July 9: Actor Salman Khan on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police regarding a morphed picture going viral on social media. A morphed television grab is going viral on popular messaging application WhatsApp against Salman Khan that may trigger a communal tension too. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor said in his complaint that the WhatsApp content was fake and maligning his reputation.

The post that has gone viral on social platform is basically based on the spat between Salman Khan and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party leader Asaduddin Owaisi last year. In the morphed picture, Salman Khan was quoted challenging Muslim community. Salman was shown saying that his movie can be a hit without Muslim support. The post also claims Salman had changed the name of his film – from the original ‘Khan Bhaijaan’ to ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. (Read also: PIL filed against Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan!)
“A written complaint was given more than a week ago by Khan’s manager alleging that someone tried to besmirch Khan’s reputation by circulating a false and mischievous post about him on WhatsApp,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni told to Hindustan Times.
However the FIR has not been registered yet but the police is investigating the matter. Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan will hit theatres on July 17 on the eve of Eid.
