While it seems like just yesterday that we were reminiscing over our favourite TV shows of 2017 and looking forward to all the new series that 2017 would deliver, the clock has ticked over into 2018 and here we are looking forward to a fresh start. While most of you might be missing your favourite shows that has ended its run in 2017, we are here to get you excited about what the next year of TV has in store for those of you with permanently square eyes. As you say goodbye to the year that was, keep your eye on these 5 shows.

Naagin 3

The most awaited new television shows of Colors TV Channel is Naagin Season 3. After the tremendous success of Naagin and Naagin 2, Ekta Kapoor is now coming up with the third installment of the TV franchise on its public demand; Naagin 3, which made its grand premiere in November 2015 and had always topped the TRPs charts since its inception, is slated to go on air during Diwali. Ekta Kapoor had recently confirmed the news by teasing her fans with an interesting post on Instagram. Reportedly, Mouni Roy and Adaa Khan will not be a part of the popular show. Rumour mills have been overactive for the past few months regarding the cast of the proposed third season of Ekta’s Naagin series; while details are still awaited, there are reports that Qubool Hai actress Surbhi Jyoti has been finalised to play the main protagonist.

Bepanhaa

After Sony TV’s much-celebrated show Beyhadh, which wrapped up in October, actress Jennifer Winget is gearing up for another small screen innings titled Bepanhaa, which was earlier named Adhura Alvida. The upcoming romantic drama, which will air on Colors, features Harshad Chopra, who was last seen in the 2014 show Humsafar, in a pivotal role. The daily soap is bankrolled by Cinevistaas Limited and it also stars Sehban Azim and Namita Dubey in supporting roles. Jennifer, who surprised her fans with her dark role as Maya Mehrotra in Beyhadh, where she essayed the role of an obsessive, possessive lover, is all set to make a fiery comeback on small screen with Bepanhaa in a completely different avatar.

Rising Star

Rising Star is an Indian version of the international franchise series Rising Star, a reality television singing competition based on the Israeli singing competition HaKokhav HaBa. The interesting fact and what make this show different from other TV singing reality show is that the programme format lets the viewers vote for contestants live via the television channel’s mobile app. Popular playback singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, playback singer and actor Monali Thakur and actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh (marking Diljit’s television debut) will be judging the show while the show will be hosted by singer-actor Meiyang Chang (former Indian Idol contestant) and dancer-choreographer Raghav Juyal, who is best known as the King of Slow Motion for his surreal dance moves in slow motion style and is currently hosting dance reality show Super Dancer 2. The promo of the show is out.

Jijaji Chhat Pe Hain

The makers of popular show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai are all set to launch a new comedy-drama titled, Jijaji Chhat Pe Hain. The makers have roped in the Hiba Nawab, who was last seen in Colors’ Bhaag Bakool Bhaag; she will play the female protagonist. The show also stars Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai fame Anup Upadhyay, Yogesh Tripathi and Soma Rathod. Reports suggest that Jijaji Chhat Pe Hain will launch by the end of December. The show will tentatively occupy the timeslot of 9pm, which currently airs Saajan Re Jhooth Mat Bolo. Jijaji Chhat Pe Hain will have a traditional storyline involving a couple of bachelors and the unmarried daughter of their landlord.

Prithvi Vallabh: Itihaas Bhi, Rahasya Bhi

Helmed by creative guru Aniruddh Pathak, Prithvi Vallabh: Itihaas Bhi, Rahasya Bhi is an upcoming historical drama and will be aired on Sony TV. The trailers of this upcoming show Prithvi Vallabh is out and the first look assures that it will be a visual treat for the viewers, as the makers have invested a lot in grand sets and good VFX. Pathak will tell the glorious tale of the braveheart ruler of Malwa and his love story with a warrior princess Mrinal. Prithvi Vallabh, which is a finite series of 40-episodes, will see television heartthrob Ashish Sharma, who will essay the role of Prithvi Vallabh, opposite Sonarika Bhadoria, who will play Mrinal.
