Right from the nomination to elimination, last week was full of surprises; Bigg Boss 11 is quite unpredictable. Arshi Khan, who we anticipated to be in the top five contestants of the finale, bids adieu to Salman Khan’s show. This controversial woman walked into the Bigg Boss house with a proud tag of ‘Queen of Controversy’ and joined the rest of the inmates of Bigg Boss 11 as a commoner, whose sole motive was to make a name for herself in the industry which she indeed did. The Begum of Bhopal left no stone unturned to grab eyeballs for her inseparable bond with Shilpa Shinde, on-air chemistry with fellow ex-contestant Hiten Tejwani and true friendship with Vikas Gupta, among others. It was truly shocking to see one of the strongest contestants in the Bigg Boss 11 house getting evicted. Arshi Khan, in an exclusive interview with India.com, shares her experience in the mad-house, expresses her hatred for Hina Khan and gives us insights about her housemates. Excerpts from the interview.
How was your experience in Bigg Boss 11?
Bigg Boss 11 was a wonderful experience for me that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I did make some good friends in the house. I am used to living that life so much so that I miss Bigg Boss’ voice, his commands, the tasks and the people. I am also used to having mikes all the time. From fighting to entertaining everyone, I had a great time inside the Bigg Boss 11 house. After surviving 12 weeks of tough competition, I really cannot believe I had to leave at this juncture. I was expecting to go to the final.
If you really liked and had respect for Shilpa Shinde, Why did you fight with her in the first place?
Shilpa and I were very good friends but then she was too dominating; after a point, I did not like to be controlled. Anyone will stop being friends with someone if they learn it’s no longer a positive experience for them to be around that person. She used to ask me not to speak to Hina Khan, Priyank Sharma, Luv Tyagi, Akash Dadlani among others, while she used to speak to everyone. She controlled the way how I should behave and whom I should talk to. This is why we failed to remain good friends in the house. I have also tried to patch up with her but she was too proud to be friends again. Even Vikas had tried to patch us up, he went up to Shilpa to make her understand that Arshi does not like to be dominated, why don’t you talk to her once. Shilpa said, “My Foot” So, that kind of hurt my feelings and since then things just turned from bad to worse. We both said a lot of things to each other and about each other but the viewers may have felt that it was just me who behaved wrongly with Shilpa but that’s not true. I still have respect for her in my heart. But there’s no denying that Shilpa is playing dirty.
Why do you think Shilpa Shinde did not save Hiten Tejwani while she easily could have?
It’s pretty evident why she did not save him. Hiten and I were really close and we did get some footage for our nok-jhok, which Shilpa obviously did not like. She did not like the fact that the focus has shifted to us from Vikas and her. Also, Shilpa used to confuse me with her statements. She will once tell me that Hiten is one of the strong contenders and it was necessary to eliminate him and the next moment she will say that he was not playing hard enough to stick around so what’s the point in keeping him in the game. I never understood her.
What are your thoughts about Hina Khan?
Hina Khan is very fake and selfish. The worst thing about her is that she will be nice to you on your face and a bitch behind your back. Interestingly, Hina thinks very highly of herself, making everyone feel like they are just a bunch of losers. Hina used to take three hours to get ready during Weekend Ka Vaar episodes and wear all rented branded clothes to look all classy on camera during the Weekend Ka Vaar, but then she has to return the clothes the following day, which was really funny. What I used to hate about her is that she used to boast a lot about wearing only branded clothes, driving Audi and working in the industry for eight years, among others. She is definitely playing a very dirty game but yet she will be in the finale.
Akash Dadlani said he misbehaves with you because you did not have a problem with that. Your take on this?
Akash Dadlani is very creepy. He has to talk dirty all the time. I had told Akash to stop his unpleasant behaviour but he never changed. Also, in the Bigg Boss house, one won’t hold a grudge or be mad at someone for long since there’s a lot happening inside the house that you lose on the count. In fact, the next morning, you won’t even remember what you fought for. Every new morning, there is a new fight and you make a new enemy as nothing is constant inside the house.
Do you think you were in the house only for your ‘nok-jhok with Hiten Tejwani and was eliminated as soon as he left the house?
No, I definitely don’t think I was in the house only because of Hiten. People may have loved us together but I don’t think that it was the only reason why I was in the house this long. I was really good at this game and no doubt, I was an entertainment package. From fights to friendship, I gave my best shot and I deserved every bit to be in the Bigg Boss 11.
Do you think Salman Khan is biased?
In one of the Weekend Ka Vaar episodes, I had told Salman that he is not able to see Shilpa’s mistakes. I won’t say Salman is biased but looks like he likes Shilpa more than anyone else in the house.
Were you offended by Salman Khan when he said, “Aapko Khairat me mila hai ye captaincy?”
Yes, I took offence because I did not like the word Salman had used for me (Khairat), I was really hurt but I could not tell him anything on that since I really respect him. In fact, mujhe lagta hai meri captaincy nahi par Hina ki captaincy khairat me mili hai usko. It would have been appropriate to use the word ‘khairat’ for Hina since she did not win the game but all of them have mutually decided to make her the captain unwillingly unlike in my case).
Who do you hate in the Bigg Boss 11 house, Why?
No one as such. The only people I wish to meet after show are Vikas Gupta, Mehjabi Siddiqui and of course Shilpa Shinde. Ab Maa bola hai toh nibhaungi. I really like these three but apart from them, I don’t think I will be in touch with anyone. In case, I happen to bump into anyone, hello-hi kar lungi. I neither hate anyone nor love them.
Which five contestants do you see in the finale?
I see Shilpa Shinde, Hina Khan and Vikas Gupta in the finale. The rest four, I don’t think they are playing good enough to win. If anyone of the four makes it to the finale with majority votes then it is nothing else but pure luck.
What are your future plans?
Well, I have recently done a Colors’ show ‘Entertainment Ki Raat’; there are quite a few shows lined up. I am also looking forward to doing a reality show soon. I also wish to work with Salman Khan in his upcoming film but let’s see if that happens. I am pretty sure that I will be working on quite a few projects with Vikas Gupta, once he comes out of the Bigg Boss house.
