Bollywood celebrities posing with their inked fingers are urging people to go out and Vote.

The second phase of civic bodies elections in Maharashtra is all set to take off today, i.e. on Tuesday. Around 10 major civic bodies, which include the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of Thane, Pune and Nashik and more than 11 Zilla Parishads & 118 Panchayat Samitis shall cast their vote today. So, the fate of fate of 17,331 candidates for 5,512 seats including 1,268 in 10 municipal corporations, 2,956 in 11 Zilla Parishads and 1,288 seats in 118 Panchayat Samitis is now in the hands of 3.77 crore voters. State Election Commissioner J.S. Saharia while talking to media said, “The election machinery is fully geared up and we shall ensure free and fair voting across the state.”

In all 43,160 polling booths have been installed across the state and it will employ over 2.76 lakh officials. In Mumbai alone, a total of 7,304 polling booths will be installed for the 9.20 million voters who will be choosing amongst 2,275 candidates fighting for the 227 seats in the BMC. Much like every dutiful citizen of the nation, Bollywood celebrities have also come out to cast their vote too. Anushka Sharma has begun her day by casting her vote and has posted a picture of her inked index finger on social media. She also urges everyone to go out and vote and take their country a step closer to progress. Yesteryear actress Rekha and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar have also casted their vote. The two ladies posed for the shutterbugs indicating their inked finger. Popular lyricist Gulzar also stepped out early in the morning to exercise his duty as the rightful citizen of India.
