Actor Ranveer Singh is riding high on success after his latest release Simmba minted Rs 200 crore at the box office. 2018 proved to be fruitful for the star both personally and professionally. With his two back-to-back blockbusters, Ranveer has emerged as the true entertainer. He single-handedly delivered 500 crore nett box office in India and is the second person after superstar Salman Khan to achieve this feat. Taking about his incredible success, Ranveer told India.com, “It’s been an extremely gratifying and humbling year. It’s always humbling that I could contribute to the industry that I love. He collaborated for the first time with filmmaker Rohit Shetty for Simmba. Ranveer stated that he always wanted to work in masala entertainer and is grateful for the audience for showering love on him. Speaking about Simmba and the love he received, the actor added, “I had never done this kind of out and out masala entertainer – a kind of movie I had always wanted to do and I gave it my all. I have always considered masala cinema to be the holy grail, the litmus test for a commercial hero and I’m happy to be accepted and loved in this genre. I wanted to bring in my own touch, my own understanding of the commercial masala movie hero. I’m extremely grateful to the audience and the critics for the love they have showered on my performance and on the film.”
On a related note, Simmba featured actress Sara Ali Khan with Ranveer. The actor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Gully Boy. The movie is directed by Zoya Akhtar and also features Alia Bhatt. It is all set to hit the screens on February 14.
