It will however be interesting to see if it can beat the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, which stands as the highest earner of the year so far. If the movie continues to maintain the same momentum, Sanju’s record is sure to break in the long run.
The sci-fi thriller, which also stars Akshay Kumar as an antagonist, had a good start at the Indian box office on Thursday (a weekday) and continued to soar yesterday, breaking records of many previous big budget films such as Chennai Express, Baaghi 2 and even Baahubali 1.
The movie’s storyline is based on the adverse effects of radiations emitting from mobile phone towers. The movie is dated to release in China in May ’19 which makes it the widest 3D release for a foreign film.
Starring even Amy Jackson in an important role, 2.0 is said to be the most expensive Indian film made ever with an approximate budget of Rs 543 crore. It is expected to progress with the same superlative performance in the coming days too.
