For the last few days, ABC Studios – the makers of Quantico and Priyanka Chopra have been receiving severe backlash for showing Indians in poor light in Quantico’s recent episode. Following this, Hindutva groups protested in Delhi by burning Priyanka’s posters and sloganeering against her. Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, who led the protest said, “Priyanka Chopra should apologise to the whole nation for this act. She got her identity as Miss World from India and now she is not doing good for the country.” After the makers, Priyanka Chopra has issued an apology for hurting sentiments. Priyanka took to Twitter and wrote, “I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I’m a proud Indian and that will never change.” In the much talked about controversial episode of Quantico, Chopra, who plays CIA operative Alex Parrish, foils a plot by Indian nationalists who want to carry out a nuclear attack in Manhattan and then blame Pakistan for the same. After the episode was aired on June 1, there was a lot of debate as to how did the actress even agree to be a part of this plot. Soon after this, ABC Studios issued an apology. ABC in their statement said, “ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, The Blood of Romeo.” In addition to this, ABC has pulled back the controversial episode from Indian telecast.
