The fans had been literally waiting on the edge and their anticipation has received its sweet fruit as Irrfan Khan dropped the trailer of his much-awaited film, Angrezi Medium, starring him alongside Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Breaking the Internet for all the right reasons, the Homi Adajania-directorial welcomes Irrfan back to the cinema with his apt comic timing, aided by that of Deepak Dobriyal while Radhika’s innocense as the former’s daughter wins hearts. The trailer opens to Irrfan, a local sweet shop owner, cracking up the audience with his emotional speech in broken English after his daughter (played by Radhika) wins the topper’s medal in school. A single father, Irrfan goes all the way to even sell off his blood to fulfill his daughter’s dream of pursuing higher studies in London. The quest to finance the colossal course fees of his daughter are heart-melting as they will set all fathers relating, single or not. As a London cop, Kareena hardly gets any screen time in the trailer which quickly whisks the audience through the roles of Ranvir Shorey, Ranvir Shorey, Kiku Sharda, Pankaj Tripathi and Dimple Kapadia. Pankaj had earlier shared about his role and said in a statement, “It’s a cameo appearance. It’s my love and respect for Irrfan and my friendship with Dinu (Dinesh) that made me say yes to it. I always wanted to work with Irrfan and when Dinu offered me this role, I immediately agreed even if it’s just a cameo role”.
Angrezi Medium is Irrfan Khan’s first film after his battle with cancer. The stellar star had wrapped up the shoot in July last year but is absent from the promotions currently due to his ailing health. Drooping the first poster of the upcoming flick on Hug Day this Wednesday, Irrfan had promised, “Wait for me,” a promise that has been delivered.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, Angrezi Medium is a sequel to the widely appreciated 2017 entertainer Hindi Medium. The film is slated to hit the cinema screens on March 20, 2020.
