Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar have begun the shooting of Baala. The film has gone on the floors in Mumbai today, on May 6 and an official poster has been released. It’s been directed by Amar Kaushik who earlier helmed last year’s hit Stree starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. The poster of Baala is quite interesting. It shows a bald head, hinting that the film could be a sly dig on having beauty standards attached to hair loss. However, the makers haven’t given away anything about the story of the film except that it’s a take on another social stereotype like Stree. Ayushmann took to Twitter to announce the news and wrote, “Excitement is in the hair.. err air!

The other actors on board apart from Bhumi and Ayushmann are Saurabh Shukla, Yami Gautam, Jaaved Jafferi and Seema Pahwa. Baala is being produced by Dinesh Vijan.

The film is special for many as it reunites the hit pairing of Ayushmann and Bhumi for the third time on-screen. The two have earlier featured in Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shubh Mangal Savdhaan which were reverred by both the critics and the audience alike.

Earlier, the actors expressed their excitement for coming together on-screen. While Ayushmann called Bhumi an extremely talented actor, the latter was also full of praises for her co-star. They talked to Mumbai Mirror in an interview and revealed that they seek uniqueness in the scripts they take up and Baala completely fits the bill. Ayushmann mentioned that he wants his films to stay relevant for years and Baala has all the qualities of being another interesting entertainer. He further added that he likes it when his films are rooted in Indian culture and talk about society in general. Not much about the film including its release date is given away yet.
