Actor Neena Gupta has come on board with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in Rohit Shetty‘s Sooryavanshi that goes on the floors today, May 6. The Badhaai Ho star, who went on to bag major film awards this year, confirmed the report to a news daily and mentioned that she plays the role of a mother to Akshay’s character. While one would think that Shetty’s films don’t have much for anyone else except the lead, Neena has made sure her character is not written-off just like that. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, she gave away a bit about her character. The veteran actor revealed that there’s a ‘new temperament’ to this mother and she’s not a conventional mother the audience will see on-screen. She added that she accepted the offer to play the character in Sooryavanshi because she will be watched by a bigger set of audience since Shetty’s film are mass entertainers. She told the daily, “There is a new temperament to the mother, and you will get to see a very different dynamic between Akshay, Katrina and me. Neena praised the director and mentioned that he has made some of the most ‘amazing films’ and the audience loves his style of work. It is not known when will the actor begin the shooting of the film. As of now, Akshay will be starting his work in Mumbai. It’s only after 10-12 days that the team will move to Bangkok to shoot for the actor’s grand introductory scene. They will then shoot at Ramoji Filmcity in Hyderabad and continue in Goa. Sooryavanshi is the fourth film from Shetty’s much-loved cop universe. It’s the first time the director has collaborated with Akshay Kumar on-screen. The film will also see cameos from actors Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba. It is slated to the hit the screens on May 22 next year.
