The makers have released the first posters of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Badla. The film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and is the official remake of Spanish film, titled The Invisible Guest (2016). Badla features Big B and Taapsee in the lead. The film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan‘s Red Chillies Entertainment. The superstar took to Twitter to first build curiosity around the posters and then finally revealing the two posters on social media. He first tweeted to Bachchan: “Main aap se Badla lene aa raha hoon @SrBachchan saab! Taiyaar rahiyega…”, and then released the posters by writing, “Ab mahaul kuch Badla Badla sa lag raha hai. Here’s the first look of Badla featuring @SrBachchan and @taapsee ! This is the second film featuring senior Bachchan and Taapsee together after their much-appreciated film Pink, that was released in the year 2016.
Even Taapsee shared the posters by writing, “Badla lena har baar sahi nahi hota, lekin maaf kar dena bhi har baar sahi nahi hota. #BadlaTrailerTomorrow” (sic)
Badla is a murder mystery and is based on the story of a man who’s arrested for allegedly killing his married lover. His attorney doubts that he’s hiding the truth from her and therefore, she forces him, again and again, to reveal the entire story to her. The poster of the film has a cryptic line written: “Maaf Kar Dena Har Baar Sahi Nahi Hota…“.
Director Sujoy Ghosh is popular for making mysterious stories on screen. His last films — Kahaani (2012) and Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh (2016) were praised by both the audience and the critics alike. He has also helmed other critically acclaimed Hindi films like Jhankaar Beats (2003), Home Delivery: Aapko… Ghar Tak (2005) and short film Ahalya (2015), which features Radhika Apte in the lead.
Badla is slated to hit the screens on March 8.
