Writer Farhad Samji, who has got as many as five big movies in his kitty, talked about scripting Coolie No. 1 remake for Varun Dhawan. The writer celebrated his 44th birthday on Sunday by taking pride in all the big movies he’s getting to be associated with this year. Farhad explained how even though Coolie No. 1 is about a coolie, Varun Dhawan’s character has been contemprorised. He said the actor’s fans today don’t care if he will be seen lifting bags in the film but they are definitely looking forward to having some comedy. Farhad told Mumbai Mirror that the Coolie No. 1 remake has to be a mass entertainer and not a biopic or a documentary on porters. Therefore, he said, it’s important to maintain the essence of the original film but not at the cost of losing its connection with the present day audience. He was quoted by the daily saying, “This isn’t a biopic on coolies nor is it a documentary. It’s a David Dhawan entertainer and we have taken porters as the backdrop but essentially, the film is about a guy getting trapped between two girls.” The writer of films like Ready, Simmba, Golmaal and Singham franchises among others, Farhad added that the only thing matters in Coolie No. 1 remake is entertainment and the laughter value it has. “It is all about entertainment. I don’t think the audience will come in to see how many bags Varun picks up,” he said. The writer has also written the script of Laaxmbi Bomb for Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. He revealed to the daily that the first draft of the film was submitted a year back. Farhad said Laaxmi Bomb is the remake of Muni 2: Kanchana and has nothing to do with Kanchana or Kanchana 3. He added that this film is going to have Akshay in a ‘completely different light.’
