Deepika also explained how Ranveer was a perfect fit for his character Murad in Zoya Akhtar‘s directorial Gully Boy that released recently. She said, “He was such a natural fit that it for any reason Ranveer had decided not to do the film, I can’t think of any other mainstream actor who could have pulled this off. The fact that Zoya thought of him for the role did not surprise me at all because he is hugely influenced by rap music and the hip-hop culture. It’s a part of him and now the world knows it too.”
The proud wife, Deepika added that Ranveer’s performance helped the real-life artistes. She said, “He introduced us to a new world, bringing to the fore the lives of people we didn’t know about, the hardships they face on a daily basis and how music helps. He’s put these singers on the world map, given the underground music movement legs and visibility.”
Meanwhile, Deepika’s first look from Chhapaak has created a stir online. The picture has Deepika in her character, as acid attack survivor Malti, looking into the camera with positivity, happiness and a beautiful smile.
