Deepika recently opened up on resonating with Laxmi. She told Mumbai Mirror, “Not every acid attack survivor is like Laxmi, who, despite physical pain, social shaming and ostracism, came out of the experience, stronger, even victorious. There are many who are yet to overcome the trauma.” She added that she will be talking to a few more acid attack survivors later. Deepika said, “I will be meeting some of these girls in the coming weeks and be working closely with them. I believe everyone needs to take mental health seriously and I’ll have a dialogue with them and their families on this.”

The actress also talked about being back on a film set after a long time. She explained, “I can’t wait to be on the set because no matter how much you prep, what happens there is something else. So, there’s a sense of excitement and also some nervous jitters that everyone in every department faces for the first three-four days into the shoot, till we get a hang of the characters and the bond between unit members cements. But this nervousness is positive energy.”
