Sidharth Malhorta and Shraddha Kapoor starrer- 2014 action thriller Ek Villain garnered much appreciation and love from the audience and critics. Sidharth-Shraddha’s sizzling chemistry and Reitish Deshmukh, playing unsuccessful and henpecked man who is constantly nagged and ridiculed by his wife in the film, has surely left us wanting to see its sequel. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, producer Ekta Kapoor has kick-started the work on Ek Villain 2 and has hired a few writers for it. Sidharth is likely to take on the lead role again, and it is said that the fresh cast will be decided soon. Divulging further details about it, the leading daily quoted a source, as saying, “Work on Ek Villain 2 has just kicked off. The premise of the original is great for a potential franchise.” Furthermore, it is said that Ek Villain 2 will not be directed by Mohit Suri, as Ekta is looking for someone else to helm the film. Ekta Kapoor recently produced Veere Di Wedding that stars Sonam Kpaoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar. The Shashanka Ghosh’s directorial has done extremely well at the box office. She will soon co-produce the upcoming projects with four ace filmmakers — Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Imtiaz Ali, Alankrita Shrivastava and Shree Narayan Singh. Meanwhile, the Aiyaary actor and the daily soap queen are also collaborating for Shotgun Shaadi. Ekta had earlier told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s my Grease Lightning (the 1977 American biographical film) in today’s times with Sid.” Well it goes without saying that this news will surely cheer up those who want a sequel to Ek Villain.
