In the recently concluded Met Gala 2019, while celebrities grabbed eyeballs for their unique and extravagant looks, Padmaavat star Deepika Padukone set fans ogling over her ‘Barbie doll’ appearance. Though her sartorial elegance won over everyone, her behind-the-scene picture from the event extracted a hilarious reaction from Dhadak star Ishaan Khatter. In the picture that Deepika shared on her Instagram handle, before sharing her Met Gala 2019 look, the diva can be seen getting ready, with a hairstylist tending to her hair. The picture shows her face hidden under her jet black mane and the phone covering her face from the mirror selfie. While Deepika captioned the picture, “24/7” (sic), Ishaan commented, “Chewbacca is that you?” (sic) referring to the fictional character in the popular Star Wars movies. Deepika, who gained global recognition with XXX: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, stunned one and all when she stepped out in an all pink strapless gown at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening. She opted for Zac Posen’s metallic pink lurex jacquard gown embellished with 3D printed pieces meant to resemble embroidery. In sync with this year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, Deepika stepped out in an exaggerated version of Barbie. She added drama to her look with a voluminous high ponytail adding a little sparkle with the bejewelled pink hair band, dramatic burgundy lips and purple eye make-up. On the professional front, Deepika is currently occupied with the shooting of her next film Chhapaak. The film’s team have wrapped up their Delhi schedule and are now shooting in Mumbai. Chhapaak is based on the story of an acid-attack survivor, Laxmi, who was attacked at the age of 16 by a 32-year-old man who stalked her and then threw acid at her after she rejected his advances. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is slated to release on January 10, 2020. Chhapaak will be clashing with Ajay Devgn starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the Box Office.
