Kabir Singh is the Hindi remake of Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy. The director of the film, Sandeep Vanga, has helmed the Hindi version of the story as well. While Vanga’s Arjun Reddy was based in Hyderabad and Bangalore, Kabir Singh is based in Delhi and Mumbai. The male protagonist in the film finds himself unable to handle his life after his girlfriend marries another man due to family pressure. The film also highlights the issues of mental illness and caste differences. Kabir Singh is set to hit the screens on June 21.
In an interview earlier, Shahid talked about what made him take up the film. He said that he found honesty in both the director and the story of the film. The actor revealed that his character in Arjun Reddy has an ‘extreme emotional arc’ and therefore, he had to put a lot of efforts into playing the role. Shahid called his character ‘amazing’ and said that everything about the film is quite raw and that appealed to him.
