Taking to her Instagram handle, Kalki shared a picture where she can be seen in her “hardest part” of labour, sitting in a pool filled with water. She captioned it, “Doula. I can’t experience childbirth and not talk about this word. The word comes from the ancient Greeks and meant ‘a woman’s maid’, it is now a support system of women for women during the process of pregnancy, labour and post partem care. I didnt know about the function of a doula myself until I got pregnant. No matter how much you read up, prepare or ask your doctor, there are challenges in childbirth that one can only know from experience and practice. A doula provides massages, breathing techniques and excercises during active labour, other support like hypnobirthing, a birth plan for the hospital, your first bonding with your baby, breastfeeding and so many other essentials which believe me, when you’re a first time mum, feel like your first day at a new school all over again! In this photo I’m with my doula @newbeginningzz in the ‘transitional’ phase of labour, when you are almost ready to push the baby out and contractions are at their peak. For me it was by far the hardest part (so it’s quite appropriate that the picture is a blur), and without Sanam’s strong hands and steady voice guiding me through the breathing I’m not sure I would’ve been able to bear it. I’ve also had unbelievable support from @reba_beingalive a doula from @birthvillageindia who’s constantly checking on me and making sure I’m not alone through all this. #sisterhood #doula #hypnobirthing #waterbirth #womenforwomen #pregnancy (sic).” Also Read - Happy Birthday Alia Bhatt: 10 Times The Gully Boy Star Made us Fall in Love With Her 'Beta' Edward

Kalki and her partner Guy Hershberg welcomed a baby girl, Sappho, on Friday, February 7, in Goa. The actor gave birth to her first child through the water-birthing technique. The news was first broken by photographer Viral Bhayani who took to his Instagram account and made a post announcing the birth of the child.

Being a star mom comes with its own set of responsibilities and Kalki has planned how to keep her child away from the unnecessary media attention and also making him a part of her real life. In her earlier interview with a daily, the actor opened up on how she wants to protect her child from media bullying but at the same time finding the right balance.

The actor, who’s popular for her acclaimed performances in many films, went on to say that her baby doesn’t need to be in the media all the time. She said she wants her kid to play with other kids who don’t belong to the same background as theirs. However, Kalki said she was always aware of the kind of world we are living in and she will eventually find a balance of both the worlds for her baby. “But at the same time, I understand that we live in a social media world. I’m not going to hide my baby in a cupboard. I will have to find that balance,” she said.
