Kangana Ranaut, who is currently in London shooting for her upcoming film Mental Hai Kya, has reunited with Anurag Basu once again for romantic drama, Imli. Basu, after a lot of speculations, has finally zeroed in on the lead cast of his upcoming film. While Kangana had already been roped in to play the female lead, Rajkummar Rao has been signed for the film opposite Kangana, a report in Bombay Times suggests. The film is likely to go on floors in November. Also Read - Kasautii Zindagii Kay’s Anurag Basu Aka Parth Samthaan to Resume Shoot From The First Week of August
Anurag Basu’s film Imli will be Kangana and Rajkummar’s third outing as the two have previously worked together in 2014 film Queen and are currently shooting (in London) for their upcoming film Mental Hai Kya. Confirming the news, a source, in a statement to Times of India, said, “Rajkummar has been signed for the film opposite Kangana. This is his first film with Basu. He is very excited to work with him, as it was always his dream to be a part of an Anurag Basu movie. Raj also happens to be a fan of love stories, so that makes this all the more special.” Also Read - Kasautii Zindagii Kay News: Shoot Resumes Today, Parth Samthaan to Join in August
On being asked about Imli, Kangana had earlier said in a statement, “It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the end of the year. All I can say is that Anurag is my godfather and everything I am today is because of him… I can’t wait to go back to the beginning.” ALSO READ: Kangana Ranaut is Having a Gala Time with Team Mental Hai Kya in London, See Pics Also Read - Ludo First Look: Fatima Sana Shaikh Looks Hot in Red Dress, Rajkummar Rao Flaunts Distinct Hairstyle
Helmed by Basu, the film is touted to be a love story, which deals with relationships on a very human level, but with Basu’s vision. Basu launched Kangana in the film industry with Gangster; the two last worked together on 2010 film Kites, which starred Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. Kangana and Basu will now reunite after a gap of 8 years. There were rumours of a fallout between the filmmaker and the actress, however, the source rubbished the rumours and said, “Kangana respects Basu a lot. Those were just baseless rumours.” Watch this space for further updates.
