Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan will reportedly be seen playing a cop in Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium 2. The film is getting on floors in April but Kareena is expected to start shooting from May. As per a report in a leading daily, Hindi Medium 2 has got a new lineup of stars with Irrfan in the lead. The report in Mid-Day quotes a source close to the development saying, “While the film kicks off in April, Kareena will join the unit only by May-end during the London schedule. She will be seen as a cop in the satire. while she loved the script, Kareena was just as excited to play a police officer for the first time in her 19-year-long career. Speculations were also rife that actor Radhika Madan has been roped in to play the grown-up daughter of Irrfan in the film. The second part in the popular franchise is being directed by Homi Adjania, who has earlier helmed films like Cocktail (2012) and Finding Fanny (2014). Earlier, denying the rumours of Irrfan stepping away from the film, his friend and filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia said that the actor is healthy and returning to begin Hindi Medium 2. He revealed that he had a meeting with Irrfan and he was glad to see that he has been recuperating well and will soon resume the shooting of his films, starting with the education drama. Tigmanshu, who directed Irrfan in Paan Singh Tomar (2012), told Deccan Chronicle, “I did meet him after he returned to India. He is perfectly fine now. Irrfan told me that he will begin shooting for Hindi Medium franchise soon.”

Meanwhile, this is the first time Irrfan and Kareena will be seen collaborating on a project. The actor has earlier worked with Deepika Padukone in Piku (2015), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jazbaa (2015) and Priyanka Chopra in Saat Khoon Maaf (2011).
