After Shri Rajput Karni Sena disassociated itself from the protests against Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Maharashtra Karni Sena has spoken about the actress. The outfit has threatened to burn the film sets and ruin Kangana’s career. This comes in response of the actress’ previous statement in which she warned the outfit against causing any problem in her film’s release or ‘she will destroy each one of them’. Ajay Singh Sengar, president of Maharashtra Karni Sena was quoted by PTI saying, “If she continues to threaten the members of our outfit, we will not let her walk freely in Maharashtra and will burn her film sets.” He also mentioned that the Hindu society will never forgive Kangana if Manikarnika happens to be insulting the queen of Jhansi, on whose life the film has been made. Earlier, commenting on the protests, Kangana said, “Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. According to reports, the Maharashtra wing of the Karni Sena protested against the film on Thursday, January 17, alleging that the period drama “alludes to Rani Laxmibai’s relationship with a British officer”. The reports also said Karni Sena is opposed to the film showing the queen dancing to a special number, saying it is against tradition. They asked the makers of the film to show them the movie before its release.

The film is slated to hit the screens on January 25, facing a Box Office clash with Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray, a biopic on Maharashtra political leader Balasaheb Thackeray. Manikarnia: The Queen of Jhansi is jointly directed by Kangana and Krish.
