Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has begun shooting for his next film – Sooryavanshi with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Now, the detail of another important character from the film is out. The baddies of Shetty-films are as popular and reverred as their heroes and a popular name has joined Sooryavanshi as the antagonist. As per a report in DNA, actor Nikitin Dheer, who played the iconic Thangabali in Shetty’s Chennai Express, has returned to play the role of a villain in Sooryavanshi. The actor himself confirmed the news to the daily and expressed his happiness over bagging the character. He mentioned that when the director offered him the role of a baddie opposite Shah Rukh Khan, he couldn’t believe his fate. Son of veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, Nikitin added, “When I saw Chennai Express for the first time, I remember hugging him and crying like a baby. The actor has worked with Akshay in Housefull 3. Recalling his experience of working with one of the most popular action stars in the country, Nikitin said that teaming up with Akshay doesn’t only make one a better actor but also adds a lot of discipline, work ethics and values to the personality. He also said that he had seen Akshay working with his father in seven films and he always used to admire his craft on the sets. Nikitin, who’s married to popular telly actor Kratika Sengar, revealed Sooryavanshi is an out-and-out action film and he has got big shoes to fill while playing a villain in one of the films from Shetty’s cop-universe. He was quoted by the daily saying, “Who can forget Jaykant Shikre (played by Prakash Raj), one of the most iconic villains of recent times, who received as much love as Singham. In Simmba again, the magic was recreated. That’s the beauty of this universe.”
Sooryavanshi, also featuring Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in brief roles is slated to release during Eid next year. As of now, it’s facing a Box Office clash with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Inshallah. However, speculations are rife that one of these films will shift its release date to make sure both the films enjoy maximum screens.
