In Christian weddings, there is a tradition that is followed where towards the end of the reception the groom has to remove the garter his bride is wearing. Well, a never before seen picture from Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s wedding has emerged in which the groom appears to be doing just that. The two looked absolutely adorable in the black and white picture, with Nick seen getting down on one knee as he reached for the garter. The garter, which was usually used for holding up stockings or socks, became symbolic in Western weddings and it also became traditional for the brides to wear them to their weddings. In the Middle Ages, the groomsmen would be the ones removing the garter, but in the modern day, it is reserved only for the groom. Priyanka and Nick are definitely keeping up with tradition. A little bit more about the garter, the tradition is believed to have emerged from a superstition that taking an article of the bride’s clothing will bring good luck. Now it is mostly about removing the garter and tossing it to the unmarried male guests, with the one catching it said to be the next in line for marriage.
Back to Priyanka and Nick. The two had tied the knot on December 1, 2018 at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, and their union was solemnized according to Christian and Hindu rituals. After the wedding festivities got over, the two got busy with their lives.
Priyanka, who will next be seen in Hollywood movie Isn’t It Romantic alongside actors Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth and Adam DeVine, recently unveiled her wax statue at Madame Tussauds in New York, and not to be outdone, Nick too shared a picture of his wax statue.
Priyanka is also busy with shooting of The Sky Is Pink, a biographical film directed by Shonali Bose and which will also star Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. Nick on the other is set to reprise his Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle role in a sequel of the fantasy action-adventure comedy film.
