The first look of Rajinikanth‘s Thalaivar 167 is out and the makers have revealed the official title of the film. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the superstar’s 167th film is titled as Darbar.  A bilingual drama, it features the actor in the role of a cop. The first poster of the film shows Rajinikanth in a quirky look. Big hair, a wide grin on the face and stylish glasses constitute the actor’s look in the film. Darbar’s poster has many elements in the background. It shows weapons, a police dog, Gateway of India, and a pair of police hand-cuffs among other interesting things with Rajinikanth in the centre of the poster.

The first look of Darbar was shared by director AR Murugadoss and Lyca Productions simultaneously. Sharing the picture on Twitter, the director wrote, “Here you go guys!!! The first look of our very own Thalaivar in #Darbar @rajinikanth @LycaProductions #nayanthara @santoshsivan @anirudhofficial #sreekarprasad #pongal2020” (sic)

Darbar features Rajinikanth with actor Nayanthara. The film is expected to have the superstar playing dual roles – a cop and a social activist. The superstar has played the role of a cop earlier in films like Pandian (1992), Moondru Mugam (1982), and Kodi Parakuthu (1988). The shooting of Darbar is expected to begin tomorrow, on April 10 with a puja on the film’s sets. Some reports also suggest that the makers have approached a popular Bollywood actor to play the role of the antagonist in the film.

Recently, a few stills of Rajinikanth from his first look-test were leaked online and went instantly viral on social media. However, that upset the makers and they revealed that strict action will be taken against those who leaked the stills without their knowledge. Even Rajinikanth’s fans requested people to not share the stills and cause a problem for the makers. Darbar is slated to hit the screens during Pongal 2020.
