After teaming up with Ranveer Singh and Sushant Singh Rajput, actress Sara Ali Khan might be seen with actor Varun Dhawan in a film under his home production banner. Filmfare has reported that filmmaker David Dhawan is keen to cast Sara opposite Varun for the remake of Coolie No. 1. The original 1995 Hindi film featured Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead. The Dhawans have been working on revamping their home production banner and launching the remakes of their hit films of the ‘No. 1’ series. The first remake on the list is Coolie No. 1. The report has also suggested that Sara’s name got finalised for the film even before her debut Bollywood release, Kedarnath. A source close to Filmfare said, “They were in talks for some time and had approached her even before Kedarnath hit the marquee. The idea is to adapt the original and modernise it. The 23-year-old will step into Karisma’s shoes, but the makers are changing the character sketch a bit and making it even more prominent in the remake”. Varun is currently busy with Kalank, a Dharma Production film, directed by Abhishek Varman. The actor then has another film with Dharma, titled Rannbhoomi and a dance film with Remo D’Souza. Sara, who’s currently basking in the success of her latest release, Simmba, has not announced any new film yet. In the original Coolie No. 1, the character of Govinda appears as a super-rich businessman in front of a rich man (Kader Khan) to marry his daughter, played by Karisma Kapoor. Hilarious consequences arise when the father later finds his son-in-law working as a coolie. The man then cooks up a story claiming he has a twin brother who’s a rich businessman but they have broken ties. The film was a hit and is now considered as one of the cult classic comedies in Bollywood.
