With positive hashtags like #Switchonthesunshine and #Onedayatatime as a part of her coping mechanism, actress Sonali Bendre has taught not just fans but people across the Internet world and those suffering from cancer, how to successfully stand your fort in a crisis whether it be an emotional or physical one and to make the most of each day. Diagnosed with high-grade cancer last year, Sonali steps up her inspiration quotient every single day. Her recent photoshoot for a magazine is an added proof of her steel grit and sheer positivity, even as she goes around now without a woman’s major beauty asset (or so many would like to believe) – the luscious tresses.

Speaking to Vogue India post the shoot for their magazine cover, Sonali, who landed her first movie through Parachute hair oil commercial and has “probably endorsed every haircare brand there is in India,” spoke about her initial inhibitions. She shared, “My instinct was to wear a cap, a scarf or a wig—but these things are so ugly. I knew that if I had to accept it [going bald], I had to put a picture out there. Because once you share it on social media, you can feel the release.”

Putting out her valour in a descriptive post, Vogue shared a series of pictures from the photoshoot and captioned it as, ““I’m okay with it now… I don’t even miss it,” says Sonali Bendre Behl (@iamsonalibendre) as she runs her hand neck upwards. “Yet it [my hair] was the be-all, end-all of my life. It was this stupid thing that I was hanging on to,” she shares. “My instinct was to wear a cap, a scarf or a wig—but these things are so ugly.
