Tanushree Dutta – Nana Patekar Sexual Harassment Allegations Latest Update: Actress Talks About Her Career in Bollywood And How Actor is Trying to Scare Her Off

Tanushree Dutta talks about re-entering Bollywood and how Nana Patekar is trying to scare her off using the same tactics he used back in 2010

The Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar‘s sexual harassment allegations controversy doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. The actress has made it clear that she is ready to battle it out with or without any support. Her allegations against the veteran actor are being seen as India’s own #MeToo movement, which began in the West and had many female employees from the film industry talking about facing sexual harassment at the hands of influential men in the industry. Now, back at home, the latest update in the case has it that while Nana’s lawyer has claimed a legal notice has been sent out to Tanushree, the former actress has denied receiving any paper.

In her latest statement given to DNA, Tanushree stated that she is herself waiting to receive the said notice from Nana. The actress also stated that all the attempts of making her allegations look like her efforts of venturing into the Hindi film industry are futile. The Aashiq Banaya Aapne star mentioned that Nana is repeating the same things he did by threatening her 10 years back when the incident took place on the sets of his film, Horn ‘OK’ Pleasss.

Tanushree elaborated in an interview with DNA, “Things are happening exactly like the way they happened 10 years ago. Back then, Nana had threatened me with a lawsuit and he had left it at that. So, he’s using the same tactic again this time, to not only shut me down but others as well. Today, he and his lawyer are creating an atmosphere of fear among people, so that others, who have had a similar experience with him, don’t come out and share their stories. These are all methods to pressurise me. He’s scared that others, too, will come out and speak about the way he has behaved with them”.

Talking about the notice, she said, “I want them to send the notice. But where is it? He must have made it and shared photocopies of it with the media but he’s definitely not sent it to me. They are just pulling a bluff and con to stop other people from coming forward. Nana has behaved objectionably with many others, too”.

One of the important things she has highlighted in most of her interviews on the issue so far is that she doesn’t see it as a gateway to enter the film industry because she is of the opinion that her career got over in 2010 itself when she decided to not come back to Bollywood realising she can’t have any kind of support here. Tanushree talked about the same and said, “Where’s the career to destroy? They already destroyed it 10 years ago. They broke my spirit enough to make me walk away from everything. I had 30-40 film offers right after Horn Ok Pleassss but the trauma of this incident made me leave all of it. There was no justice, no retribution; there wasn’t even an acknowledgment from the film industry. How can I go back and work in an ecosystem where something like this can happen to me again? That’s why I went away. Isn’t that destruction already”?

Meanwhile, Nana’s lawyer, Rajendra Shirodkar, has claimed that he has even got an acknowledgment of receiving the notice from Tanushree’s side. He told the daily, ” We have got the acknowledgment that the notice has been received. As for her claims of pressure tactics, etc, assuming we have not sent (the notice), what pressure tactics is she implying”?
