Uri: The Surgical Strike is Not a ‘Propaganda Film’, Vicky Kaushal Talks About How Writing Off Film is Unfair

Vicky Kaushal talks about the efforts went behind making Uri: The Surgical Strike

Actor Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike is on its way to reaching Rs 225 crore at the Box Office. Directed by Aditya Dhar, it has been receiving love from all the corners in the country for showcasing the bravery of the Indian army. While it’s been widely praised for its content, Uri has faced little criticism for allegedly being a ‘propaganda’ film. Now, Vicky has reacted to the same.

In his latest interview with Mid-Day, the actor has stated that he’s clear he didn’t find Uri a propaganda film. He said that he’s proud of what he did and he would have never been associated with the film had it been a film with a layered purpose. Vicky was quoted by the daily saying, “We have made the film as a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. It’s not necessary to view everything through the political lens. Also, if it was a propaganda film, I wouldn’t have been a part of it.”

He also mentioned that the entire team of Uri put in their heart and soul into making it. Vicky said, ‘”Just before it was to release, Aditya and I were discussing how the entire team has given their all—physically, mentally and emotionally—to the project. Though we were content with our efforts, we didn’t expect the audience to go bonkers.”Once a film releases, it belongs to the audience—be it the cabinet ministers or the Prime Minister or even sports personalities. So if you have the right to say ‘How’s the josh?’, the same right lies with anybody else. We have zero control over it. We are happy that the emotional value of the film is resonating with everyone.”

Uri was released on January 11 and also featured Yami Gautam, Kriti Kulhari, Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal, Manasi Parekh, Rajit Kapur, and Shishir Sharma among others.
