Coronavirus in UP Update: A popular singer, who has sung many hit Bollywood numbers, has been tested positive for the coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The name of the singer is not yet revealed by the authorities but it is believed that he is one of the four people who were tested positive for the COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total number of infected people in the state to nine. News agency ANI confirmed the information and tweeted, “A prominent Bollywood singer is among the four people who have been tested positive for #Coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh today.” (sic). The information comes from King George’s Medical University administration where the tests are being conducted. The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in India has risen to 195 with five deaths reported including one Italian tourist who was being treated in Jaipur. Meanwhile, over 9800 deaths have been reported worldwide.
In India, the government has announced a partial lockdown with the entire film industry being shutdown till March 31. The film releases have been postponed, the shoots have been suspended and funds for the wage workers have been created to help sustain their day-to-day living.
