Bollywood has seen its share of unsuccessful films, but one stands out as the worst Hindi film ever. We’re talking about Kamaal R Khan, aka KRK’s debut film Deshdrohi, which is considered to be the biggest flop in Hindi cinema. It was even banned in Maharashtra for nearly two months.
Released in 2008, KRK’s Deshdrohi was a nightmare not just for the audience but also for the film critics. According to IMBd, its the lowest-rated film ever, beating other duds like Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Gunday, and Adipurush. Made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, it ended up grossing only Rs 89 lakh worldwide.
The film was critiscied for trying to profit off the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and also angered the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS). As a result, it was banned in Maharashtra and received negative reviews wherever it was released.
Apart from KRK, famous actors like Lagaan actress Gracy Singh, Baghba’s Aman Verma, Ashoka’s Hrishita Bhatt, Manoj Tiwari and Kim Sharma worked in Deshdrohi. The film did not result well for female leads – Gracy and Hrishitaa. Gracy even had a flourishing career but after Deshdrohi, she didn’t have offers. The actress moved to South, doing handful of Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu films. Years later, she made a comeback in Hindi cinema as the star of the spiritual TV show Santoshi Maa. All the actors who worked in Deshdrohi are yearning for work in the industry today. It would not be wrong to say that the film ended the career of many actors.
KRK, who was the writer, lyricist and producer of the film, was brought into the limelight after Deshdrohi. His career took an unexpected turn and today he has become a viral sensation. The actor later became film critic and got famous for saying derogatory things about actors. Due to this, his twitter account was blocked, and he now keeps on targeting Bollywood stars through other social media platforms.
Also, KRK runs a successful business in UAE and lives in a luxurious mansion with his family. The actor keeps on posting the inside pictures of his lavish home in Dubai.
