Bollywood producer, Boney Kapoor, known for his blockbuster hits and notable collaborations, recently talked about the complexities of his two marriages and the impact it had on his children. Boney first tied the knot with Mona Shourie Kapoor in 1983, and their marriage lasted over a decade. Their relationship drifted apart when Boney fell in love with superstar Sridevi whom he married in 1996. In a recent interview, he acknowledged the challenges he experienced in balancing his two marriages and the pain his children faced during periods of separation.

Boney Kapoor makes new revelations about his personal life

In an interaction with Chanda Kochhar on her YouTube channel, Boney shared, “My first wife, I told her, I had confessed to her. Look at this ring that I am wearing, and the ring that she (Sridevi) was wearing. Both were bought by Mona. I told her openly and that’s how she brought the children up without creating any kind of hatred towards me or the other kids.”

Recalling the emotional struggles of being caught between his two families, Boney shared, “I have a letter from Arjun (Kapoor) where he asked me, ‘Why don’t you come home?’ I used to feel bad. What could I do? I was divided. On one side was my wife (Sridevi), and on the other side were my kids. I couldn’t leave her alone.”

The veteran film producer admitted it was difficult for him to choose between his children and Sridevi. “I love my children. I loved them even more back then. And I had to go through things… I had to be very strong to handle some situations. Because I love all my children. And I respected my ex-wife because she never played this game of putting one against the other. Kids felt bad because they couldn’t see their mom suffering, which I understand. And I feel blessed now, all four of them are together, ” Boney Kapoor added.

Kapoor admitted that his relationship with Sridevi had stirred controversy, largely due his first marriage. However, he noted that with time, both families managed to find understanding and moved forward with peace.
