The actress whom everyone, from heroes to directors wanted to work with was cast by a producer in his film. She was paid even more than she had asked for. Interestingly, the film was initially rejected by both Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. However, “Bhai” stepped in like an angel and saved the producer’s reputation. Still couldn’t guess which actress we are talking about? Read on.

This actor earned immense praise for his strong performance in his debut film. His brother, a well-known producer in the industry, played a key role in shaping his career. The actor’s fortune changed after working in his brother’s film. Since it was a family project, he was compelled to appear in a song, which later became a super hit. However, his costumes for the film were purchased from Chor Bazaar.

The Heroine Got Her Desired Fee

The blockbuster movie Mr. India, released in 1989, starred Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. Casting Sridevi in the film was not easy for producer Boney Kapoor. Her mother initially demanded a fee of ₹10 lakhs, stating that she would leave the decision to him. However, he offered ₹11 lakhs instead. This was a historic moment in Bollywood, as it marked the first time an actress was paid more than the lead hero.

Clothes Bought for the Hero from Chor Bazaar

Renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur revealed an interesting fact on social media while wishing Anil Kapoor on his birthday. He shared that Anil Kapoor wore the same jacket, shirt, trousers, cap, and shoes throughout Mr. India—most of which were purchased from Chor Bazaar.

Notably, the film’s story, written by Salim-Javed, was completed back in 1980. Initially, the makers considered casting Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna in the lead roles. However, both actors rejected the project after hearing the script, as they found the concept of invisibility difficult to grasp. Eventually, Anil Kapoor stepped in like a savior and became a part of the blockbuster film.
