We already knew that Rajkummar Rao has been working on a web series based on the life of Subhas Chandra Bose. That was enough to get everyone excited. The excitement levels went a notch higher when the teaser revealing the title, Bose: Dead/Alive, was dropped upon us few days back. It made the wait for the trailer even more difficult. And now that it has also been unveiled, people are going berserk. When it comes to cinematic representation of Bose, it’s Sachin Khedekar, who instantly comes into my mind. He played the INA chief in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, which was directed by Shyam Benegal. And needless to say, he was very convincing. Having said that, after watching the trailer of Bose: Dead/Alive, he might just outdo him. Just look at the hard work that he has put into this. That bald pate that you see on him is not prosthetic by the way. The actor went bald in real life. Of course this is also suppose to be a different take on Bose as it is going to tell us about the whole cover-up on his death and all the conspiracy theories by the Indian government. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero sparked protest in India as Benegal was forced to cancel its premiere in Calcutta. The Forward Bloc party opposed the film because of the film’s suggestion that Bose secretly married an Austrian woman, Emilie Schenkl, in 1937, and that he died in a plane crash in Taiwan rather than fleeing to Russia in 1945 as some people believe. So it is this mystery that exists behind his death will be unraveled in Bose: Dead/Alive, a web series, which is which is directed by Pulkit, while Hansal Mehta is the creative producer.
