Two films with dramatically different themes employed for their narration have hit the screens on Friday. Nawzuddin Siddiqui starrer Freaky Ali and more masala endevour Baar Baar Baar Dekho got us excited initially for they both look refreshingly different. Alas they could live up to the excitement they promised. Both the endeavours have fetched not so favourable reviews. Initial reports from the ticket windows suggest that Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s time travel saga had a slow start at the box office. The romantic drama, directed by debutante director Nitya Mehra, opened with just Rs 6.75 crore. For a movie that has been crafted with the budget of Rs 46 crore it is a rather slow start. Film trade pundit Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to explain the figures in a better way!

Baar Baar Dekho clashed with Salman Khan’s production endevour ‘Freaky Ali’ which has bagged got good reviews from the critics. But without a massive star attraction the film has failed to set the cash registers clinking. Made in the budget of rs 19 crore Rs 2.55 crore collection on day one is not exactly a great start. Blame on the Ganesh Chaturthi fetivities in Maharashtra coupled with the bandh in Bangalore must have affected both the movies’ collection. It would be interesting to see if the film will gain momentum in the days to come owing to word of mouth or star attractions for Freaky Ali and Baar Baar Dekho respectively. In the meantime Akshay Kumar’s Rustom continues grow big at the collection centres. The film has crossed Rs 125 crore mark at BO.
