Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Sarbjit is all set to hit the silver screens this weekend. Ahead of its release, the makers of the film had a special screening of the film at the 69th Cannes International Film Festival.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s most awaited film, Sarbjit is all set to hit the silver screens this weekend. Ahead of its release, the makers of the film had a special screening of the film at the 69th Cannes International Film Festival. Aishwarya, the leading lady of the film has been regularly visiting the festival for the past 15 years and hence decided to have her screened at the prestigious film festival. The whole team, including Richa Chaddha, Aishwarya Rai, director Omung Kumar and producer Jackky Bhagnani walked the red carpet at Cannes 2016. The all-stylish team caught a lot of attention at the gala event. While Aishwarya’s purple lips had got all heads turning, Richa looks graceful in a golden embellished saree. Omung and Jackky opted for traditional bandhgala suits for the evening. Sarbjit is a biopic on Sarabjit Singh, who arrested by Pakistani soilders after he unknowningly wandered across the borders. He was confined and tortured in the Pakistan’s prison for nearly 22 years. He was suspected to be an Indian spy and was convicted for being involved in 1990’s Lahore and Faisalabad’s bomb attacks. Back in India, Sarabjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur was trying hard to bring him back home. (ALSO READ: Cannes 2016: Sarbjit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s night out)

In the upcoming film, Omung has tried to narrate the story through Dalbir’s perspective. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays the role of Dalbir and Richa will be seen as Randeep (Sarbjit)’s wife in the movie. Sarbjit is set the hit the theatres on 20 May 2016.
