Scroll down to read the inspiring story of Nancy Tyagi from rags to riches
Nancy Tyagi’s tale of rising from nothing to stardom is not only a little heartbreaking but also inspiring for many.
The fashion influencer disclosed that she had once feared that her mother might suffer a terrible injury because they heard about the conditions of workers there. She also mentioned that because of the lockdown, her mother had to work the night shift. Due to her financial condition, the young fashion influencer even contemplated the idea of taking her own life. In a podcast with Ranveer Alhabadia, Nancy spoke out about witnessing her mother struggle and living in poverty. “Marne ka bhi aaya tha vichar. Abhi kya ho raha hai ki school bhi jaana hai, fees bhi bharni hai. 6-7 hazaar me kya hota hai mahine me? Kuch nahi hota. Zehar aa jata hai utne me, ” she said.
She went on by saying that their mother, who worked in a factory, used to leave the house early in the morning and return late at night, leaving her brother and waiting for their mother’s return.”Din-raat hum ghar pe mummy ka wait karte rahe. Mummy ab aayegi. Aur kapde gande ho rahe hai dhool-mitti me, koyla bhi tha udhar. To dekha nahi jaata tha ki hum idhar aram se time nikaal rahe hai pura-pura din. Mummy ab ayengi… Mai apni mummy se bahut pyaar karti hu. Sab karte hai,” she continued.
Tyagi talked about how her father had originally dissuaded her from attending Cannes. He informed her that since the residence was now in good working order, she didn’t need to travel too far. However, the self-taught fashion designer discussed how receiving the festival invitation altered her course in life. She succeeded in stopping her mother’s industrial job.
For her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, Nancy Tyagi chose a ruffle-layered pink gown, and pictures and videos of her quickly went viral in India. The next day, she was decked up in a hooded, embroidered saree with a floor-sweeping trail. With a black gown, fur draping, and beaded jewellery, her third day’s ensemble was nothing short of a dream for fashion enthusiasts.
