There are some actors in Bollywood industry that have established a name for themselves in Indian cinema. So much so that even after passing away, they still remain in people's hearts rent-free
Bollywood industry is very vast. While today we have various actors who have delivered Rs 1000 crore hits, there are also those who, despite the numbers, have established a name for themselves in Indian cinema. So much so that even after passing away, they still remain in people’s hearts rent-free. If you are wondering who we are talking about, then the actor in discussion is none other than the veteran comedian Jagdeep.
Jagdeep has been a huge part of Indian cinema. He worked in over 400 movies during a career spanning over seven decades, entertaining people across generations. One of his most iconic roles, which remains memorable to this day, is Soorma Bhopali from the film Sholay. The character gave Jagdeep an identity in Bollywood that will never fade.
Jagdeep, aka Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, was born in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia. He kick-started his acting journey in the 1951 film Afsana as a child artist. He was one of the most renowned comedians of his time and appeared in movies like Aar Paar (1954), Khilona (1970), Gora Aur Kala (1972), Qurbani (1980), Shahenshah (1988), Phool Aur Kaante (1991), China Gate (1998), among others.
Do you know that Jagdeep had no connections in Bollywood? Instead, he was the son of a barrister. However, after his father passed away, he began selling soaps, combs, and kites on the streets to survive. Later, luck favored him, and he got an opportunity as a child artist. The actor gave tough competition to Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan.
