The film, which talks about the drug menace that has gripped the North Indian state of Pujab, recieved a compete no go from the Censor Board on Friday and the topic immediately created a stir on social media. This comes just a few weeks after the Pahlaj Nihalani lead  body had given a U/A (Parental supervision needed) certificate to the Jungle Book, for being ‘too scary’ for kids. Film maker Vikas Bahl, who co-produced the film had earlier sought an A certificate for the film saying, “I would insist the board to give us an adult certificate. This film has been made for an age group of a certain number and above that.” ALSO READ: Udta Punjab trailer: Censor Board releases ‘modified version’ of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Also Read - ‘Neeche Ka Shayad Bhul Gyi’: Mira Kapoor Gets Trolled For Wearing Hot Shorts as She Returns From Maldives

“However, I think CBFC is going through a process to come to a point where people understand what they’re trying to do. There seem to be fluctuations in some of the decisions but I think that’s a process,” Bahl had added. Director Abhishek Chaubey had also sought the intervention of the Information and Broadcasting ministry in the matter, but the Ministry refused to do so. Word is also out in the streets that the decision is partly political as it has been taken keeping in mind the Assembly elections that the state will see next year. In the film, Shaid Kapoor is playing the role of a rockstar Tommy Singh, who is hooked to drugs.
