We have been giving you all the dope on Salman Khan show Bigg Boss 10, right from the time the call for auditions came in. Colors this time wants a different format for its most controversial reality show. So, Bigg Boss season 10 will not only have celebrity contestants and the ones who have legal trouble of some kind in their life, but also the ‘aam aadmi’ or the common man! (ALSO READ: Salman Khan to host Bigg Boss 10 for sure! Here’s how to participate on the show)

The call for auditions was out in February 2016, right after Bigg Boss 9 or Bigg Boss Double Trouble was over. The ninth season was again controversial but in the middle of the show, Bigg Boss 9 was struggling for TRPs or television rating points, even though Shah Rukh Khan had made an appearance. The time slot had also been pushed to 10 pm after complaints during the previous season Bigg Boss 8 that the show was not fit for a family audience.

In the middle of Bigg Boss 8, there was a controversy where Salman Khan wanted to leave the show because of being accused of favouritism. The season’s extension Bigg Boss Halla Bol was hosted by filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, but she failed to bring in the ratings as Salman Khan. (ALSO READ: Salman is being human with his ‘Bigg Boss 10′ pay)

Well, Bigg Boss in India is not as ‘adult’ as it is in its international version Celebrity Big Brother and its different versions. But it’s getting there and that probably did not go down well with people who were initially intrigued with the show’s format.

So now, for Bigg Boss 10, not only is the format being changed but also the time slot. Apparently, Colors is looking to bring back its most loved show Bigg Boss into the 9 pm primetime slot. And hence the new strategy to bring in members of the general public to enter the Bigg Boss house and participate on the show. This will definitely generate viewer interest further!

Bigg Boss 10 will begin telecast in mid-October 2016, ahead of the festival of Diwali. It will be hosted by superstar Salman Khan, fresh from the success of his film Sultan.
