Malayalam cinema also witnessed a major crackdown on the nationwide smuggling of luxury vehicles. The Customs Department raided the Kochi homes of famous Malayalam film actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Dulquer Salmaan. According to media reports, the operation has been named “Numkhor,” which means “vehicle.” The aim is to crack down on networks involved in tax evasion and illegal vehicle imports.

Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in trouble?

According to a report by Mathrubhumi, raids are underway at South superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Thevara home in Kochi. It’s being reported that officials will also investigate the actor’s Thiruvananthapuram home. The operation is also underway at Dulquer Salmaan’s Panampilly Nagar home. However, officials have not yet found any suspicious vehicles.

Raids at 30 locations

These raids by customs officials are taking place in 30 different locations, including Kochi, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. According to media reports, these investigations are aimed at vehicles being smuggled into India from Bhutan illegally. Smugglers are selling used vehicles in India at low prices without paying customs duties. Some of these vehicles even belong to the Bhutanese army.

How film stars got caught

It’s reported that high-end vehicles were also allegedly brought to Himachal Pradesh, where they were illegally registered and then sold at exorbitant prices to film stars, businessmen, and high-profile individuals. This is a network that the police have launched Operation Numkhor to crack down on. The Customs Department has compiled a list of individuals who received these luxury vehicles.

It is reported that the list includes the names of several well-known personalities. Officials suspect that the vehicles may have been purchased through illegal imports, which is why the actors’ homes were raided.
